For 106 years, the California Rodeo Salinas continues to be one of Salinas Valley’s favorite community events. The annual event raises $200,000 to $300,000 a year for local non-profits that support the community. Because this is a popular event amongst those who work in the agriculture industry and our customers, Germains Seed Technology has opted to participate as a proud sponsor of this professional rodeo event that will take place July 21st through July 24th, 2016 at the Salinas Sports Complex.
Fierce Competition for a Grand Prize
Established in 1910 the rodeo attracted over 4,000 spectators from around California’s rich agriculture region attracting cowboys like Jesse Stahl, who is considered to be one of the most famous African American cowboys of all time. This year, the rodeo will draw over 600 PRCA rodeo professionals who will compete for almost $400,000 in prize money.
Today, over 50,000 spectators flock to the annual rodeo to not only see the heroic bull fighters, professional cowboys, and rodeo clowns; but to witness other attractions such as firework, extravaganzas, parades and performers such as Rodney Carrington. Freestyle Motor Cross champion “Cowboy” Kenny Bartram and his team of three riders will keep you on the edge of your seat with his aerial stunts!
Proud of its Heritage California Salinas Rodeo
Other attractions include the California Rodeo Museum where you may preview the history of California Rodeo from its early discovery to its modern adaptations. The museum contains historical memorabilia such as saddles, rodeo clown costumes, cowboy attire and Miss California Rodeo outfits.
