History of Open Farm Sunday

LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) first introduced OFS in 2006 to educate and engage local communities on the ‘story behind our food and how farming affects our everyday lives’. The event has now been running for over a decade with over 1,500 UK farmers welcoming 1.8 million visitors onto their farms each year.

OFS is a great opportunity for all ages to learn where our food comes from and ways to protect our countryside. There will be many activities to take part in from tractor and trailer rides, nature trails and pond dipping!

Supporting LEAF

Passionate about backing British farming, Germains is proud to support LEAF as an organisation committed to supporting the sustainable food and agricultural practice in the UK. Attending this year’s OFS offers a valuable opportunity to engage with British farmers and share our story on how our innovative seed technologies drive higher yields for UK farming. Tessa Seymour, EU Commercial Sugar Beet Manager, says:

“Being a member of LEAF is important to Germains as it gives us an additional opportunity to get further involved with educating the general public about farming and the incredible work that goes into producing food.  Looking forward to learning lots about different farms on the 11 June!”

If you are looking for a great way to spend a Sunday with your children taking in scenery and enjoying the country air, Open Farm Sunday is a great opportunity.  Click here for more information about the event.  See you there!
