I joined Germains in September 2015, with a steep learning curve ahead of me, I set about meeting as many growers and sugar beet experts. I have loved every minute of getting to know our Sugar beet growers and industry partners, who are so supportive and encouraging.
We have welcomed close to 500 growers and industry partners into our factory and R&D site in taking steps to demonstrate a more collaborative partnership.
I have been working with Germains for almost 2 years now and have really enjoyed working as part of an organisation that is passionate about creating new treatments to support the UK Sugar Beet industry.
I very much look forwards to continuing to meet growers and industry partners to together back British Sugar Beet farming.
I joined Norfolk Agricultural Station, now Morley Research, in 1970 then British Sugar plc at Cantley in 1978 as a Trials Fieldsman, moving through Agricultural R&D and back to the factory finishing as Area Manager at Newark in 2011.
In April 2011 I joined a British Sugar Team developing Sugar Beet Growing at 7 factories spread throughout the North of China. Germains have given me the opportunity to continue working within the industry working with new and novel products for the benefit of growers and the Sugar Beet industry.
Having the privilege to join the Germains technical team I would like to introduce myself to those who do know me. I have worked in the beet industry for 45 years, starting the Norfolk Agricultural Station now Morley Research working on a new product called Goltix.
40 years with British Sugar before retiring this Easter with 25 years in agricultural R&D and 15 years on the advisory side. Germains provides intuitive research and new products, that continues to support my ethos of yield expansion.
