Between 6th to 8th February 2019, Germains’ Horticultural Key Account Managers Hans Renia and Christophe Clement attended Fruit Logistica in Berlin. With more than 85,000 visitors Fruit Logistica is the world’s leading exhibition for live fresh produce marketing, what you see in Berlin, is the future of the fresh produce trade.
Fruit Logistica provided a valuable opportunity for our Key Account Managers to talk with customers, as well as other stakeholders in the industry. It is also a great event for networking and making new contacts in every sector of the industry.

As always, Fruit Logistica was an excellent opportunity to get updates from customers and stakeholders further down the produce chain. This year there was a definite increase in the number of vegetable seed companies that were present with their own booth. It was a pleasure to see all the new breeding innovations of these customers of Germains and also to talk with them about our new seed treatments such as Chard Exilis and Brassica Exilis. It was unavoidable that a lot of companies had questions about the Brexit and how that may impact the flow of vegetables and fruits into the UK. Luckily for vegetable seeds the UK government seems to have made arrangements that will allow for a speedy import of seeds into the UK even in the case of a so called hard Brexit. There was also a lot of interest for organically produced fruits and vegetables.
Virtual Market Place®:
Germains is always looking for a range of skills, from science to sales, to ensure we have the required capabilities to collaborate, challenge and deliver value adding service of the highest quality. In that regard, it was good to see that this year the Virtual Market Place® was new at Fruit Logistica, allowing exhibitors to place their job offer for a period of 3 months. For Germains it was great to see that this possibility was created, as we are always keen to hear from enthusiastic, capable individuals.
