Germains’ 2018 Grower Engagement Trial Results
Germains continue to back British farming in the UK by involving growers in our trials programme.
As Germains further invests in the research and development of new products to delivery higher yield to the UK industry we ask growers to test this products in real life field conditions.
The programme allows us to obtain valuable feedback from growers on the performance of the seed technology, whilst simultaneously giving growers the earliest insight to our most advanced technologies.
2018 Grower Engagement Trial Plan
The trials included growers from each of the four British Sugar factory areas (Bury St. Edmunds, Cantley, Newark and Wissington), allowing us to gain a fair representation of the crop’s performance and eliminate any field variation.
Emergence Count Results
After drilling, the Germains team recorded three counts at each site at the first, 50% and final emergence.
A national average was then taken across all twelve sites.
These emergence results demonstrated that Xbeet® enrich300 performed consistently better relative to the Xbeet® plus control treatment at each count 1, 2 and 3.
At the early emergence stage, Xbeet® enrich300 achieved a 18% higher count than Xbeet® plus. This is essential for today’s sugar beet crop as it allows the plant to quickly reach the 12-leaf stage and get the best start in producing a strong and healthy crop to fight off diseases.
We would like to say thank you to all the growers that were involved in this year’s trials, this would not have been possible without their continued support and dedication to developing new treatments!
