2019 is a special year for Germains as we are celebrating 50 years of our facility in Aalten, the Netherlands. Almost 100 years after Germains was founded by Eugene Germains in Los Angeles, California, the Dutch site opened in 1969 to help with the increasing demand of Germains products across Europe.
Still today, this site is an essential part of Germains operations across Europe as it processes most of our treatments for horticulture seed. Our location in Aalten now employs around 50 people and it was a pleasure to hear from some of them on how times have changed since they started working with Germains:
“I have worked at Germains since 1991 and we worked with only 9 people in the company. The main difference between then and now is that we have more specialised employees now and I have a lot more colleagues too”
“There are a lot of opportunities in the company to develop yourself. I have worked in several departments and my job is great because there is so much variety”
“I have worked at Germains since 1984. I like my work because every day is different”
Hans, Quality Assurance
“What I like about my job is that I can work with people in a great environment. We have one goal together and that is to achieve the best product”
We thank all our employees who have made Germains site in Aalten a success over the 50 years.
Our official celebrations will be carried out in September where Germains will be hosting open days for local schools to teach them about Germains’ key technologies and how these have developed throughout the years.
There will also be several celebrations with our customers and key stakeholders during the week of Seed meets Technology. Click here for more information on Seed meets Technology and we hope to see you there to help us celebrate our 50-year anniversary in Aalten, the Netherlands.
