Steve Moon

At Germains, we have many of the leading experts in the seed technology industry and this capability and knowledge, coupled with the state of the art facilities we have across our markets, puts us in a great place to be the partner of choice to a range of stakeholders in the seed industry.I joined Germains in May 2014 from our sister company British Sugar where I was Commercial and Supply Chain Director. Prior to this role I worked in the AB Mauri division of Germains’ parent company, Associated British Foods (ABF), latterly as VP Northern Europe. Previous to ABF, I have undertaken various general management and finance roles with Unilever, where I started my career, and then CSM.

As Managing Director/CEO it is my responsibility to ensure that we focus on delivering the best solutions for our customers and to ensure that we develop the appropriate strategies to address future market requirements.Working with the local Business Units as well as undertaking global activities, there are many exciting opportunities that we are currently developing.

I started my career with Associated British Foods (ABF) in 2010, as Treasurer of Illovo Sugar based in South Africa. Illovo Sugar, Africa’s biggest sugar producer has both agricultural and manufacturing operations in six African countries.In 2013, I transferred to ABF’s London head office as Group Performance Manager reviewing the financial performance of ABF’s global businesses.

With strong global agricultural and manufacturing experience and exposure across cultures, I was delighted to join Germains Seed Technology as the Finance Director. I am enthusiastic to work with an organization that has a proven track record of enhancing seed performance through the development innovative seed technologies that meet the needs of the markets in which we have a presence.

The company’s 145 years of successes stem from its commitment to invest in extensive research and development that continues to produce cutting edge seed technologies. As the Financial Director, it is my responsibility to manage the company’s financial performance by providing useful tools to support the company’s growth and improve efficiency so we may continue to diversify our portfolio of seed technologies for future generations.

As the former Director of Procurement and International Market Supply Chain Operations for two reputable brands, Twinings Tea and Ovaltine, I am looking forward working with another highly regarded global brand; Germains Seed Technology.

Due to its strong history of providing quality products across the marketplace and its global footprint, Germains is a well-respected brand name in the global seed market.   As Business Director of Europe, I believe it is vital for all of our business units to continue to focus on consistent product quality with an elevated level of customer service that begins when the order is placed and continues through delivery.

Germains seed testing and quality control procedures applied throughout the treatment process enables Germains to deliver high-quality seed technologies. Regardless of where an order is placed or processed, I believe the brand experience includes both customer service and quality which must be consistent for the customers we serve worldwide.

As Business Director of Germains’ North American business, I am responsible for our horticulture operation in California and our sugar beet operation in North Dakota. I have held a variety of roles in the 20+ years I have been with Germains, and I can truly say that there has never been a more exciting time to work here.
